A big surprise at MWC 2018 was seeing Sony’s new flagship with a different design than Sony proposed. The Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact, unveiled at the MWC event in Barcelona, included last year’s Sony Xperia XZ1 and Sony Xperia XZ1.

Design and display
Sony has been obsessed with bar design for years, and in a way, it only has an innovative look every year. It’s been a long time since the design was changed, so I didn’t feel nostalgic anyway. The bezel piece commonly used on Xperia series smartphones has been reduced with the Sony Xperia XZ2. However, the bezel is still quite large compared to competing products such as the Samsung Galaxy S9, Nokia 8 Sirocco and LG V30S TinQ.
The surface design of the handle paved the way for a more curved building made of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 with aluminum underneath for added protection. However, the problem with this is that it is easy to attract dirt and works well with more oleophobic layers. Ambient Flow is tagged with a new design and will eventually drop a 3.5mm jack like any other flagship. On the back, the camera and fingerprint sensor are symmetrically placed in the center, but the fingerprint sensor is slightly lower and can be difficult to reach.
Sony has decided to make it even darker by offering only a Full HD HDR display instead of its predecessor’s 4K resolution display. The LCD display is 5.7 inches and supports HDR displays. The decision to reduce the screen resolution has the advantage of being lighter than a heavy battery.
