You might think that visiting a chiropractor isn’t a popular treatment option in the US, but statistics show the opposite to be true. Over 35 million people a year visit chiropractors for adjustments.
If you’re thinking of becoming one of those 35 million, then you’re probably wondering how often you have to receive chiropractic treatment.
The answer to that question doesn’t have to be a mystery. Read on to learn how often you should receive a chiropractic adjustment!
Where Are You in Your Chiropractic Treatment?
When you visit a professional at a place like Ribley Family Chiropractic, they’ll develop a customized treatment plan for you. Each treatment plan has different stages to address the severity of your condition. In general, the earlier you are in your treatment, the more often you’ll need to visit your chiropractor.
For example, if you have a neck or back injury, you’ll typically visit your chiropractor three or four times per week during the first two weeks of treatment. Then, you’ll visit two or three times per week during the following seven weeks. Your chiropractor may increase or decrease your treatment length as necessary to meet your needs.
How Many Sessions Do You Need?
There’s no singular answer to the number of sessions you’ll need. Even people who have the same condition have different treatment lengths based on the severity of their condition and how their body responds to treatment. Your chiropractor is able to give you a ballpark range, but they cannot give you an exact number.
People who have issues with sciatica typically need to visit the chiropractor at least 12 times before they experience symptom relief, but that doesn’t mean you’ll be fine after 12 visits. If you have a herniated disc, however, you’ll visit the chiropractor less frequently, only about two or three times, but your sessions are more intensive.
Visiting the Chiropractor for Maintenance
Most people visit a chiropractor because they’re experiencing a chronic issue. Once the issue is resolved, they’re free to stop seeing the chiropractor. Many people choose to continue seeing their chiropractor for regular maintenance, however.
Depending on how healthy you feel, you might only need to visit once or twice per year to make sure you’re feeling your best. If you have more frequent back or neck issues, then you might need to visit your chiropractor once or twice a month, instead. Your chiropractor can help guide you toward the correct maintenance frequency.
Are You in Need of a Chiropractic Adjustment?
When it comes to receiving a chiropractic adjustment, there are a number of different treatment frequencies. The answer to the question of how often should you see a chiropractor depends on what kind of treatment you need and where you’re at in your treatment. Be sure to communicate any changes with your chiropractor, and you’ll be on your way to recovery!
